Hi guys !
My embedded version of Debian, Omnibian, will go out in 3 or 4 days.
I’ve installed all packages we need to boot it, LXDE, GDM, virtual keybord, bluetooth libs, wifi…
I’m working on autologin to console (helped by the package “mingetty”), auto calibration, and auto startx (in ~/.bashrc)
I’m testing all these settings, i hope it will work.
For now, it boots ok and show me the console login. I can’t have GDM to start for the login (so, autologin in root…)
See you soon

Maybe some who tried to see my website have seen that it was down. That’s normal, and may not re-produce itself.
I explain :
I bought my website with a 1GB traffic per month. Since 3 years i got it, i never used more than this 1GB limit.
But since i done Omnibuntu, there was so many visitors that i used 2GB before my hoster stop it.
Now, i bought 40GB of traffic, so we have 41GB of traffic. With that, my website will be always online (i hope…)
So, sorry about this blackout, i’ll do my best to never have one again.
See you soon,

Hi guys and girls !
I’m currently working on Omnibian, an Omnia optimized version of Debian. I’m installing packages, like wpa_supplicant (wifi support), bluetooth applications and libraries and … a virtual keyboard (xvkbd package)
I got X server to start (I see the loading cursor) but it tries to start GDM (Gnome Desktop Manager). I’m gonna tweak the X start script to tell him to start LXDE.
The loading of Omnibian don’t show any major bug, so i think i’m on the right way !
See you soon,

Hi guys !
I’m happy to tell you that the sourceforge project is online.
This is a summary page, with links.
The root filesystem is also online and could be faster that MegaUpload.
See more here : http://linuxomnia.sourceforge.net/
A Omnibuntu user (who also proposed the name of Omnibuntu) named X-Ray A4T just created a Omnibuntu logo. So, here it is. Enjoy it.

Thanks X-Ray A4T, you’ve done great work.
It’s hard for me because to satisfy everybody, i’ve got to release many thing at the same time and four projects for one man, that’s hard. But i’m doing my job, even if i’m not paid.
So i inform you that i’ve been able to use OPIE on Omnia. Background’s stretched, Bluetooth/WiFi/Phone not working, but… seems good. I like it. Some games are in (8 or more), PDF reader, an OpenOffice for mobile devices, a VIRTUAL KEYBOARD (that’s so gooooood !).
Screenshot are commnig, maybe during the week-end if i’ve time.
As you know, OmniUbuntu is at early stage of development.
An user of OmniUbuntu just said me that this name could be better, just by removing a letter…
Good by the U
Now, the project of Ubuntu on Omnia will be called Omnibuntu.
That’s all. For now. ^^
Hi ! REELEEEEAAAASE !
——————————————–
OmniUbuntu version 0.0.3public
——————————————–
INFORMATIONS :
Demonstration version xD. Not at all usable for today’s uses. As I said, this is NOT a classic ubuntu, not the one you will find in a live cd or even after setup. GUI isn’t realy the same, and it is a veeeery lightweight version. So, this is a demo if you want. Gotta work on it. All on this version is light. so, please, be indulgent. And sent me feedback here or on my email admin<(i hate spam)at>fladnag<dot>net
I highly recommend that EVERYBODY read the How To. That’s not at all the same setup that andromnia. ^^
Last thing : don’t use the Andromnia kernel : it will not work (due to the touchscreen, of course)
FILES :
Setup instructions, tutorial with pictures and special for dummies (PDF format) ~1MB
The kernel (CAB file, and after install a shortcut in your “Programs”) and the How To (PDF format) ~4MB
The Root filesystem to extract to the second partition of your card (see How To for further instructions) ~200MB

Kernel rev.159 CAB plus Howto : here
