RMRGAMES GAMES PACK ------------------- README file ----------- Contents: 1. Introduction 2. Installation 3. Registration 4. Using the program 5. Other Programs from RMR Software 6. License Agreement INTRODUCTION ------------ Welcome to our Games Pack for the Palm series of platforms. We have badged 3 programs from Beelogic, to give us: Revertris - a puzzle game that combines concentration tactics with time-attack arcade action. Using conventional tetraminos (tiles made of four linked cells), Revertris starts where Tetris ends, pushing the game to a new level of fun. Coinz - an original puzzle solitaire game from beelogic that puts instant fun in your pocket. You should give a try to this simple, yet addictive game, to realize its value-for-money appeal. Hexamine - this boosts the game-play of the classic mine sweeper game replacing the square cells by hexagons. By using hexagonal cells the game board is more coherent and built for solid game-play. After a couple of runs, you won't believe how easy it is to get used to the hexagonal cells and how hard it is to go back to classic original. As it stands, these Shareware versions are almost fully-working with just a few limitations. Registration will remove these limitations. Please note that registration does not involve reloading the program, but simply typing in a registration code to release the 'lock'. We know no one ever reads manuals but we would highly recommend reading the "Using the programs" section for a tutorial on how to play the games. INSTALLATION ------------ To install the programs simply double-click on the appropriate PRC files and the programs will be installed in your machine next time you hot-synch. Note that Revertris is available in 3 versions: revertris_8bit - Revertris for color devices revertris_4bit - Revertris for monochrome devices with 16 shades of gray revertris_2bit - Revertris for monochrome devices with 4 shades of gray REGISTRATION ------------ If you wish to register the package, you can do so by post (snail-mail), or on-line using a credit card. The registration fee is £15 or 20US$. (plus $5 if using REGNET) If you wish to register on-line using a credit card you have 2 options: USA Residents: We now support the PayPal system for transferring of money, as that avoids the $5 handling charge put on by REGNET. Simply send the money to alan@rmrsoft.com quoting the program (RMRGames (Palm)) you wish to register and the platform (Palm, ESSENTIAL information or you will get the wrong code) and we will send the registration codes to you within a few hours. If you are not already signed up for PayPal it is very straightforward to join. Just go to www.paypal.com and follow the instructions. You even get a $5 bonus for signing up. However, we would appreciate if you say that you were referred by alan@rmrsoft.com so that we get the $5 referral bonus :-)). Non-USA Residents: Until PayPal goes international you will have to register on the WWW through RegNet, the Registration Network (Note that paying by this method will involve an extra US$5 handling charge). RegNet can be reached by e-mail: orders@reg.net or on the World Wide Web: http://www.reg.net or in the USA by calling 1-800-WWW2REG (1 800 999-2734) or the easiest way is by following the links from my WWW Home page at: http://www.rmrsoft.com/ This package has been allocated the RegNet Number: 10192 and this should be quoted. The notification tends to get to us within 12 hours and we reply as soon as possible. If you are using the postal service, please send a cheque (check) payable to 'RMR Software' (or the equivalent in 'real money' in your actual currency - no foreign currency cheques please), to one of the following addresses, including a stamped address envelope (or an E-Mail address) for the reply: RMR Software c/o 6000 Natick Court Burke, VA 22015 USA RMR Software c/o 46 Mortimer Road Kempston Bedford MK42 8RE ENGLAND Please note that these are the addresses of our 'agents'. If you use these addresses, Registration codes will be sent out fairly quickly (provided they are not on holiday), but if you send a technical query it will have to be redirected to us, so might take longer to reply. If you have access, we can be reached quickly at support@rmrsoft.com In each case, we (or our agent) will then send you a personalised registration code to enter (select the option via the Menu) to remove the 'nag' screen and allow full use of the program. Note that you will NOT need a new copy of the program, all the functionality is already there but just needs 'unlocking' by the registration code. We will also ensure that this code remains forward compatible for future versions of the program so, unlike other programs, we will not be asking for a further fee for an upgrade to the EPOC version. USING THE PROGRAMS ------------------ Revertris --------- The aim is to solve different puzzles by figuring out how to place a set of tetraminos into the game board. Every board has a solution and you're always given the necessary tiles. Each tile is made of four cells. To place a tile, just "draw" its shape into the game board by tapping individual cells or by moving your stylus across. You can place the tiles in any orientation, regardless the orientation shown in the given tile set. Tiles cannot overlap and they must fit within the borders of the game board. If you think that a tile is misplaced, you can remove it from the board by tapping the tile with your stylus. To solve the boards, you have a limited number of moves or certain amount of time, depending on the game mode chosen in the preferences. A board is solved when all the tiles have been placed. A new level is then loaded with a fresh -and harder- puzzle. Hexamine -------- The aim is to find out where the mines are hidden on the playing field. The number of mines is shown at the top of the screen, and depends on the game level. Just tap on a cell to uncover it. This will reveal the number of adjacent mines, if any. Use the exposed number to deduce where the nearby mine or mines may be - and avoid them! If you expose a mine, it blows up and the game is over. If you are sure about the location of a mine you should flag the corresponding cell. The mine counter at the top of the screen indicates how many mines still need to be marked. If you are doubtful about a cell you may mark it with a question mark. Remember that you must flag or uncover that cell later on, before the game ends up. The game controls depend on the input method chosen in the preferences. If you kept the "Pen-only input" option unchecked, tapping on a cell will uncover it. In order to place a flag or a question mark, you should tap on that cell while holding down either the page-up or the page-down button. If you checked the "Pen-only input" option, the first tap will mark the cell with a flag; tapping twice will place a question mark (if they are enabled in the preferences) and last tap will finally uncover the cell. The game level can be set by choosing the Preferences item from the Game menu. Coinz ----- The aim of this game is to pick up all the coins from the game board by moving from one coin to another. Every coin you collect will increase your score. Chain as many coins as you can to multiply the value of the coin by a factor of 10. If you move onto a star, the chaining factor is initialized. To start, tap on any active coin from the board (active coins are shown blue in color devices and black in monochrome palms). You can't remove a coin that is not active. The coin you've selected will then be removed from the board and new coins from the surroundings will be activated. Next move depends on the value of the coin you've just removed; the higher the value of the coin, the further you can move (in any orthogonal direction) If you remove a value 1 coin (regular coins are valued from 1 to 3) , you may next remove any coin which is at one cell of distance from the source coin; at two cells if you came from a value 2 coin and so on.. The star coins are not removable, and you can always move onto a star if it is active. When you do, you may next remove any coin in the same horizontal or vertical row as the star. Use these helpful stars as wildcards during the game. The game finishes when you end up in a cell that does not allow you to move any further.
