P.Fract for PalmOS Copyright (c) 1998-2001 by Rainer Persicke - RPS ================================================ THIS IS A FREEWARE FOR PERSONAL USE. If you like this software, post me an e-mail or a post card: RPS Rainer Persicke Hollaenderey 22b D-24119 Kronshagen Germany E-mail: support@persicke.de The latest version of this software can be found at: http://www.persicke.de 1. About P.Fract ================================ P.Fract produces different fractal images. Included in this version are 4 "orbit" type fractals: Hopalong, Threeply, Quadruptwo and Chip and the Mandelbrot set which is calculated using a recursive algorithm that tries to detect areas of the same color and fills them. I got the names and formulas of the orbit type fractals from the great PC software FRACTINT. You can save and load your favourite images and make a slideshow of them. Try the slideshow option with the example database: First clear the slideshow filter and set the delay to 2 seconds or what ever you like. Make shure that the 'Mark area' option is disabled. You can stop the slideshow tapping on the screen. Then try to set the filter to 'M' (the filter is case sensitive), that means only images with names starting with 'M' will be displayed, and the delay to 1 sec. Now 'Mark area' should be enabled. With the 'Zoom' option you can enlarge an area of the Mandelbrot set. It should be possible to produce some kind of Mandelbrot movie if the area of the different zoomed images differs not to much and you set the slideshow delay to 0.2 or less seconds. But that will drain a lot of batteries unless you do not use the Palm emulator On color devices such as Palm IIIc pressing the up or down button starts color cycling. P.Fract requires MathLib which you can obtain at http://www.radiks.net/~rhuebner/mathlib.zip PalmOS 3.x is required. 2. History ======= 26/01/1998 - Released version 1.10 of Fract 02/02/1998 - Released version 1.12 of Fract Added: Detection of correct OS version, Selectable backup of database 17/02/1998 - Completely new version, now called PalmFract starting with version 0.9 Added 4 fractal types Qadruptwo, Threeply, Chip and the Mandelbrot set, zoom option, load/save of images, slideshow 20/05/1998 - Version 0.9a, should work with Palm OS 3 01/05/1999 - Version 1.0, added scale for orbit fractals, some bug fixes. 15/09/2000 - Version 2.0 Color support for Palm IIIc 16 grey levels for greyscale PalmOS 3.5 Color cycling on color devices Integer math calculation for Mandelbrot Simple but resumable calculation method for Mandelbrot 16/09/2000 - Version 2.01 Fixed a problem with aspect ratio correction of Mandelbrot :-( 24/09/2000 - Version 2.03 Background color of orbit type fractals is not changed during color cycling and calculation is paused to increase speed of cycling. 26/09/2000 - Version 2.1 Added 3D relief effect 02/01/2001 - Version 2.2 Added Julia fractals! 17/07/2001 - Forced to change name by Palm Inc.
